A Dusting of the Cobwebs....

welcome to my blog!
...allow me a brief introduction...

In a reacent conversation with my daughter, her questions were why I, and her Dad were so quiet about our lifes? Meaning writing or telling about our own personal historys.

I didn't think there was anything important to write about. As I was just a normal person, getting up in the morning and getting the day started, getting kids off to school, or meeting schedules of the whole family, cleaning house, and landry. Keeping little ones busy, and changing diapers, comming home fixing dinner, helping with homework, putting kids to bed, watch some news, go to bed. And then do it all over again the next day. Then some days was teaching lessons in Primary, RS, MIA, Sundayschool, cub scouts, or helping at schools, ect. Family home evening, Visiting teaching, and even some Home teaching and being the family schaefer. most of the time we had one car, 6 kids, one working husband. Oh yes, the multi years of music lessons, and baseball teams, coaching, and even one major jumproap champion, for one daughter.

We had trials too. some were very hard, just thinking about a single memory of losing our son, brings tears. But we are told that this life is to meet trials, and how we handle them will be for our own eternal growth.

A very wise Stake President, President Alred, once said "We are here to be schooled in the principles of eternity. We will work by the sweat of our brow, to work our way through this life... But remember we are here to be schooled in the principles of eternity."

So, I welcome you to my blog. Please feel free to stay and go as you please, and wander where you wish. And, as always, feel comfortable in sharing those stories that you may feel are just "an every day" thing as well...

Judy's son Terry....

Cancer is such a hard and ugly thing.

Lynn's sister Judy, first had cancer in her lung, at the same time that I had breast cancer.  one fourth of her lung was removed.  Then they found it in her back, and recently they found a spot in the top part of her liver.

Tonight we heard that Judy son Terry, has cancer in one of his kidneys. Which will have to be removed next month.  He is going through chemo now, probable to shrink, or confine the tumor before surgery.

Valued Friendships....

Image result for angelsI am often finding myself in Aww of some of the friends I have met while living here in Grantsville.  Penny Prestwich is one of those Neighborhood Angles.

This year Penny had to have both of her knees replaced before the beginning of the new year, because her insurance coverage would not cover them afterward.

Teasingly I informed her that I was having my knee done also.
I had my surgery on my right knee Dec 29.  I was doing pretty well, but had to go to rehab in Tooele, because Lynn was so sick that he was not able to care for me and himself at the same time.

I  come home on Jan 14, and was so glad to be home. The next day Penny shows up at my home with a large box,  Lynn carried it in for her.  As she sat in a chair next to my bed, with both her knees scares showing, she informed me that I needed to feel pretty, and that always makes one feel better!

So she and La Dean, my other friend, went shopping. (Penny loves to go shopping!)
Penny began pulling out nightgowns and house-dresses and 2 pairs of Isotoner slippers from the box... and tells me that there is another box coming......

I so appreciate Penny and La Dean, I value their friendship highly....  Angels in our neighborhood are still here.

Utah State Prison...

Image result for Utah state prisonUtah State has decided they need to do something with the State Prison which is located in Draper, between Lehi and Salt Lake City.  Years ago Draper was in the middle of no where, next to the main road, now a freeway.  It is very old, and should be updated.  How ever someone came up with the idea to move it away from Draper because the land it sits on is now valuable for becoming industrialized as the area has done all around the Prison.

Utah's government seems to think there is nothing over the mountain in Tooele county....and they have been using us as dumping ground for what they don't want, in Utah County.

Grantsville and Tooele are small communities but growing.
We live in Grantsville, a mixture of old and modern homes.   Some of the Church leaders have come from here.  There just seems to be a special spiritual feeling that exist here, and is felt by most all of us.  I wonder if this area may have received a blessing some time in the passed.

Over the weeks there have been quite a few meetings around the state.  Folks have expressed that they don't want the prison in their county... For some reason the government has picked out two areas nearby us and no matter how our Mayor Brent Marshall, has expressed that we did not want it.  It seems to be being forced upon us.

This week Grantsville, held a City Planning Commission meeting to review purposed amendments to the city's land use management and development.  In short... Both houses passed, the only place a prison or correctional facility, could be allowed would be areas zoned for manufacturing and would need a conditional use permit and could only hold a maximum of 249 inmates.  The state prison is expected to house about 4,000 inmates.

Another piece of land that is in consideration is owned by the Miller Family and has offered to sell it to the state.  It lays between Grantsville and Tooele.  How ever it is included in Grantsville's annexation plans since 2010.

I hope Tooele will do the same, and our area will be protected.

Thanks for  Inspiration from above.
Thank You Mayor Brent Marshall and the City Counsel....

UPDATE:

The update as to where the Prison would be moved has been made to move it out by the Airport, in a big piece of flat land.  Out of all they were looking at I felt this was the best for what they wanted to do.

Growing Family...

.Image result for flowers

Our family is growing again this year, faster than I can keep up with.

Ivie, Launie's daughter, is getting married 25th of April.

David, is getting married for the third time, 3rd of April, in the American Fork Temple.

Mike and Jennifer are expecting  number five some time in Sept. or Oct.

Lynn and I will be married Fifty years in June.

I wish Lynn and I were younger so we could enjoy our family more...It seems younger
folks like to be more with others closer to their own age.  Right now Lynn and I are over
forty years older.  Not as active, and facing more physical problems at this age, that the
younger ones don't know and have not experienced yet.

I understand,... I have done that to....but I still miss them, they are my children...

Up Date:  Amber, Launie's daughter, who just came home from her Mission is getting
Married June 20, 2015.....

Jodie's Copper Mine....

One day Jodie, About Jr High age, announced to me that she could find some money she needed by cleaning her room!..

Image result for coinsWhat a great idea!...I always had some hands full of  coins, mostly pennies, that weighted down my purse, I have just been putting them a side.

So when Jodie's room needed cleaning, or she needed some extra money, without telling her, I would  throw the coins around her room. As she cleaned,  she found a  Copper mine....

love your kids
