A Dusting of the Cobwebs....

welcome to my blog!
...allow me a brief introduction...

In a reacent conversation with my daughter, her questions were why I, and her Dad were so quiet about our lifes? Meaning writing or telling about our own personal historys.

I didn't think there was anything important to write about. As I was just a normal person, getting up in the morning and getting the day started, getting kids off to school, or meeting schedules of the whole family, cleaning house, and landry. Keeping little ones busy, and changing diapers, comming home fixing dinner, helping with homework, putting kids to bed, watch some news, go to bed. And then do it all over again the next day. Then some days was teaching lessons in Primary, RS, MIA, Sundayschool, cub scouts, or helping at schools, ect. Family home evening, Visiting teaching, and even some Home teaching and being the family schaefer. most of the time we had one car, 6 kids, one working husband. Oh yes, the multi years of music lessons, and baseball teams, coaching, and even one major jumproap champion, for one daughter.

We had trials too. some were very hard, just thinking about a single memory of losing our son, brings tears. But we are told that this life is to meet trials, and how we handle them will be for our own eternal growth.

A very wise Stake President, President Alred, once said "We are here to be schooled in the principles of eternity. We will work by the sweat of our brow, to work our way through this life... But remember we are here to be schooled in the principles of eternity."

So, I welcome you to my blog. Please feel free to stay and go as you please, and wander where you wish. And, as always, feel comfortable in sharing those stories that you may feel are just "an every day" thing as well...

Paulette, Jennifer- Messa Temple...

From my older Maroon Journal...

February 2, 200l
Temple Day for Paulette and Jennifer

This day was a very special day, two of my daughters, Paulette and Jennifer went through the Mesa Temple in Arizona, for their first time.

The day itself seemed so beautiful.  The air was cool and refreshing.  It was a neat feeling to walk with Paulette from the parking lot to the Mesa Temple.  Lynn, Paulette, and Launie and I came in our car.  Jennifer, Windy, Jennifer's friend from Flagstaff, were already inside.  Mike Maughan, Jennifer's fiance, was there for the session.

Those who were in attendance for our group were Lynn, Mike, Paulette, Jennifer, Launie, Alycemarie, Pauli's friend who is deft.  Wendy, Jennifer's friend and Escort.  Sis. Carrie Seline, our Bishops wife.
Most all know a little sign langue, and was able to sign to Alycemarie, except for me, I don't know it.

This year for Christmas 2000, Lynn and I were able to get a full set of Temple clothing, including the Temple dress for both Pauli and Jennifer.  Pauli went with us and helped pick things out for both of them.

One of the ladies, a  Temple worker, walked us from where Pauli reported in,  to records, where they checked  her record.  Pauli is going on a Mission to Sydney Australia in March.  Jennifer is hoping to Marry Mike in March.  Mixing up the two sisters, Temple workers tried a few times to give Mike to Pauli. Even in the Celestral room, they asked for Sister Walker to stand, we had to ask which one....for there were three of us. We left the Brother momentarily confused.....  but good memories to remember.

We followed to where we could get clothing if needed, then Lynn left to go to the men side.  Launie and I followed Pauli and the Sister back to the dressing rooms.  Leaving Pauli at the Bridal rooms for new sisters.  I saw Windy in the Bridal waiting room and waved at her.
After changing into our white clothing, Launie saw some ladies from her branch who had come to go through with a sister who also was going through for the first time.  She was around 76 years old and in a wheelchair.

Launie and I went into the Bridal waiting room to wait for Jennifer and Pauli.  I was so surprised to see Marge Russel there.  I didn't even recognized her.  Marge was my Primary President back in the 8th ward, right after Lynn and I had moved to Phoenix.  I was a Primary teacher at that time. (1966).

Marge, along with Shirley Auserie gave me a baby shower for Launie, just before Launie was born.
Marge's sister,  is the one who is in the wheelchair, and also a member of Launie's Branch.

We sat on the 2nd row and waited for Jennifer and Pauli to come in.  Jeniffer came in first and sat in front of Windy, who was her Escort.  Pauli came in and sat in front of us.
Both girls are so beautiful....I hope I can always hold those memories in the deep part of my heart, so they may always be there....being in the Temple with three of my children is very sweet....

Derik James Inman...

Times have changed since I was a young mother. No one really knew what their babies were going to be.  Sometimes Doctors could tell,  by how fast the baby's heart beat was. Or how high the mother was caring the child....real high was meant to be a girl.   Then there were lots of "Old Wife's Tales",  and dangling a button on a string over the new mothers belly, to see which way it would rotate....one way was for a girl and the other was for a boy.......No Ultrasounds back then.

On January 30, 2014
I was invited to go with Paulette and James,  To their  Ultrasound appointment for their new baby.

I have never seen a Ultrasound for a baby.  It was a very nice experience.
In a small darkened room, a Nurse used Ultrasound  to see and check the health of Pauli unborn baby.
On a large TV like monitor on the wall we could watch this very active little boy.  The Nurse checked his head and brain, his spine and eyes, his fingers and toes were all there and busy.  She checked his heart and we watched the four chambers of his heart pump in perfect working order.  He has a beautiful outline of his face and nose....The Nurse says he is in perfect health.....
Derik James Inman may be just as active as his older brother...

A Pheasant Bird....

I saw a picture in the Tooele newspaper of  five or six wild Turkeys walking across the main road in town.
It reminded me of an experience I had last year,  I made a comment on Facebook about it....It keeps coming back to mind.  This is a copy of my written comment on my Facebook ...

May 10, 2013
This morning in Grantsville, All cars stopped at the intersection, of Willow and Durffie.
A Beautiful Pheasant Bird walked across the road as if a crosswalk had been painted there, and it was his turn.  I had not seen a Pheasant  for a long time......And he was soooo Beautiful....

It is Good!...

Creative feelings, is a natural thing....
It comes from our Spiritual side...To create and taking pleasure in our accomplishments, makes us feel good.
God created this beautiful world, And said,  "It is Good!"....
Being we are His children, it is natural to want to create.

Making a dress,  Preparing a meal.  Painting and drawing in many categories.  Music in all its forms.  The gift of Writing, and Crafts.  The pleasure of watching things grow in a Gardens,  or Restoring something to its original beauty, like cars or furniture, or even quilts... Yard work, Painting a room, or just building something.....Helping others, and children is also a gift...
It makes us feel good.....As we  ponder our accomplishments we to say..... It is Good!...

The Cook's Book...

This year I realized my Recipes were fading in my cookbook. Recipes that I have used through my married life.  Recipes from my family, and friends that are just to my liking. I included people's names from whom the recipes came from.  What a neat way to be able to remember who they are, and how they touched my life.

As I was typing the recipes on my computer, I realized my daughters always call me to get recipes, from time to time.  So I thought I might make one for each of my girls for Christmas.

Much to my Surprise I had over 146 Recipes.....Some are doubled--so about 150 or more.
Paulette picked out beautiful binders.  I placed the recipes on top of card-stock, to make the pages a little stiffer, and slipped them into a good Top-load plastic sleeves, before placing them in the binder.

The Top-load plastic sleeves make it easy to make notes or improvements on the recipes by sliding them out when needed.  It protects, and is easy to wipe off when needed.

My Girls may not like all the recipes in the book, but that's ok...I want them to make it their own.
Take out what they don't like or want.  Make notes on recipes the way they like to cook them.
Just enjoy reliving things,  from when they were living at home...

Made one for my Granddaughter Ivie, who was here for Christmas...

A New Year...2014

Today is January 1, 2014......Fireworks, and Bells, ring in the New Year, as the old year slips away....

A starting of a brand new year!  Every day is clean, and fresh and ready for new experiences

My daughter Paulette gave me something very special for Christmas.  She created a professional book of my writings in this blog, from 2007 to 2013.  I have spent many hours of enjoyment reading and re-reading the things I have written about. I am so delighted to hold in my hand, a beautiful book.

Also I received my copy of Paulette's second book, "Crystal Gate".  Paulette has a wonderful gift for writing.  I have read this book about 4 times before it went to print, and I am looking forward to reading it in print.

Last year 2013 has been a hard one, lots of things happening.  I was introduced to Sciatic Nerve pain.
It was the worse pain I have ever experienced. It was so bad that I could see how death could be a welcome relief.  I also found out my pain is caused by Arthritis, filling in the holes of my spine where the nerve moves through.

Both Lynn and I had major dental surgery.
Our sweet Baby Bird, Shon, died... She is greatly missed.
December I had to have more shots in my spine for the Sciatic Nerve pain.
Also found out I need a knee replacement soon.  I am just falling apart.
Lynn also received a hearing aid, which has greatly helped him...and me.
3 years of the shredding of the Walker family, continues....so very sad.
Lynn Sister, Judy, fighting Cancer....She is a lot younger than me.

Amber Hone, Launie's daughter is serving a Mission in Spain.  She is doing so awesome.
Both Eian, Paullette and James son, and Bella, Jodie and Will daughter both had 1st Birthdays.
James has Graduated from Fortis College, in November, for Nursing...
I am so proud of him for sticking to it, going to school, and working full time.
A new Grandson, Cameron Michael Maughan, born to Jennifer and Mike, 1 July 2013
Paulette and James are expecting a new son in June...

A New Year...Means a New Time, or a New Beginning...

What I would like to do this year:
Be more Grateful, and express it.

Learn more about the Savior by reading  Scriptures
         Write in my Blog
Learn two songs on my Harp
          Loose 5 more pounds.
