This has been a full year for me. I take a deep breath and wonder what this new year starting tomorrow will bring.
I have had two brothers leave this earth, Ivan H Brimhall Died March 16, 2017 in SLC, which was kind of expected. And Cecil Robert Brimhall (Bob) Died July 24, 2017 in Ogden, which was a surprise to me...how ever I hear that both had colon cancer.
I have only one brother living, Verl Brimhall. Its a wired feeling to feel that you don't have any of your family left.....soon it will be just me.....maybe...
I have two additions to my family, two Great Grand Children. Both are from Launie's family. Ivie had a boy, in Idaho. and Sharlyn had a Girl, in Arizona.
My daughter Pauli had a miscarriage this week, it was hard on all of us. Pauli was about three months along. started a day or two before Christmas.
I was filled with a wonderful surprise a few months ago of learning that Terry and Cathy Walker, Lynn's brother, were called to work in the Provo Temple. What a wonderful blessing for them and their family. I love to watch the change it is causing for Terry.
Now that is wonderful words! If you knew about Terry and his life, and see how he has and is changing, the heavens couldn't keep the angels from singing.
I was called to work in Young Women's in my ward. To help with the Personal Progress program.
I say MIA and every body looks at me like what is that? Time has changed since I or my girls were in it. We have 60 plus girls, and I don't know what I am doing....My helper who is alot younger, was just called to be a Beehive teacher.
People worry that I am staying in the house all the time. Which I am keeping busy...I have firends that keep me moving, Penny took me and LaDean on her vacation. Then Terry and Cathy took me to Manti....We were to go to the Temple, but found it closed when we got there. The next day we went to the Payson Temple, which is Beyond Beautiful...
I am in a Card group of nine ladies, which meet on Mondays, for about two to three hrs. playing "Hand and Foot". we meet at a different house, have a light lunch and play cards.
I also am part of a "Lunch Bunch" that meets the first Thursday of each month at noon at a restaurant for visiting and getting to know each other better.
I also vist teach five other sisters, My companion is Marilyn Grua, who lives next door.
.
A Dusting of the Cobwebs....
welcome to my blog!
...allow me a brief introduction...
In a reacent conversation with my daughter, her questions were why I, and her Dad were so quiet about our lifes? Meaning writing or telling about our own personal historys.
I didn't think there was anything important to write about. As I was just a normal person, getting up in the morning and getting the day started, getting kids off to school, or meeting schedules of the whole family, cleaning house, and landry. Keeping little ones busy, and changing diapers, comming home fixing dinner, helping with homework, putting kids to bed, watch some news, go to bed. And then do it all over again the next day. Then some days was teaching lessons in Primary, RS, MIA, Sundayschool, cub scouts, or helping at schools, ect. Family home evening, Visiting teaching, and even some Home teaching and being the family schaefer. most of the time we had one car, 6 kids, one working husband. Oh yes, the multi years of music lessons, and baseball teams, coaching, and even one major jumproap champion, for one daughter.
We had trials too. some were very hard, just thinking about a single memory of losing our son, brings tears. But we are told that this life is to meet trials, and how we handle them will be for our own eternal growth.
A very wise Stake President, President Alred, once said "We are here to be schooled in the principles of eternity. We will work by the sweat of our brow, to work our way through this life... But remember we are here to be schooled in the principles of eternity."
So, I welcome you to my blog. Please feel free to stay and go as you please, and wander where you wish. And, as always, feel comfortable in sharing those stories that you may feel are just "an every day" thing as well...

Christmas Made by Hand...
Nov 20 2017

Two years ago Jennifer asked me if I would make her a copy of the Christmas Advent Calendar that our family had used for years.
When Jenifer was very small I had seen this Advent Calendar in Linda Perkins home, a neighbor, and church member, in Arizona. She had seen one and had made one for her family. I borrowed hers and made a copy for my family.
It was made with a burlap background and felt cut outs, with all kinds of sequins, beads, ect.
I was not able to make one two years ago, as Lynn was sick and my full attention was taking care of him. last year I just couldn't get into the feeling of Christmas.
I thought I would try to make one for all three girls, this year as they have been asking about getting one, for Christmas. I had made one for Launie many years ago when her family was small.
It has taken many months to make, as it is all hand done. Cutting most everything out of felt. I even took felt and scissors on a trip with my friend Penny Prestwich, when we went to St. George, to cut out the ornaments that was needed, and I needed the time to work on them.
I was pleased with the excitement the girls, Jennifer, Pauli and Jodie have expressed about receiving one this year. I hope they have many years of enjoyment with it, and perhaps make one for their kids when they want to carry on the tradition...

Crashing a Missionary Party...
Oct 7, 2017

Have you ever felt you were crashing a party, and had talked your daughter into doing it with you??
Well I wasn't exactly crashing a party, I had been invited!
Earlier in the week I had received a envelope with a invitation to a Farewell Party for Elder Samuel Brimhall.....no other name was on the invite or on the outside of the envelope. My only clue was his last name, Brimhall, as this is my maiden name. and someone knew my address in Grantsville.
To my surprise this Farewell Party was going to be in Tooele, close to where Pauli lived. As far as I knew their were no relatives of mine that lived in Tooele.
Pauli and I walked into the Church building and looked at all the folks that were there, the cultural hall was mostly filled with people and round tables. they were visiting with each other and enjoying themselves. I said to Pauli I felt I was crashing a party, as I didn't know anyone.
I soon found a lady by the name of Sherrie, who I thought was Jeannette, but found out she was her daughter. She also pointed out Elder Samuel Brimhall, who I was able to talk to and introduce my daughter Pauli to. Elder Brimhall is from Virginia. Which left my head spinning, as to how I fit into his family. I saw Mike, My brother Ivan's son. Through him I think I learned that Samuel was his grandson. Which would make Samuel, my brother Ivan's Great Grandson.
I gave Elder Brimhall my Email and home address, I hope he will write sometime.
I also understand that this party was done by Bro and Sis Booth. Elder Brimhall will be staying with them and they will be driving him to the Missionary home in Provo on Wednesday.
I am grateful to have met more family members that I didn't know, and was surprised how much older my nephews have gotten, almost to the point of not recognizing them.

Terry and Cathy Walker...
Aug 12, 2017
What a Very Special Surprise for me today!
Terry, Lynn's brother, and Cathy came for a visit today. They had some Very Special Exciting News for me...
Terry and Cathy have been called to be Temple Workers... in the Provo Temple, the one that is close to BYU. Terry will be working at the Vale. which is very special.
What a Special Blessing....I never dreamed Terry would be called to this position.
The Lord knows his children, and their hearts...even when they fight against the pricks, or what they know is right.
Not only will this bless Terry and Cathy, but also their family, and any body elts who has any connection to Terry.
They will be starting next Thursday.....Both their Bishop, and Stake President felt this was the right call for Terry and Cathy at this time....
I am so Excited for both of them. Lynn and I went through the Temple with them when they went through for the first time.....Cathy was a convert, she was not a member of the church when they were married. She is so excited to see the change that has come to Terry's heart.
Another piece of news is there is no cancer found in Terry's body now.... it is gone...

My Brother Bob...
July 24 2017...Utah Pioneer Day
On the 23 of July, I received a call from Robert Craig Brimhall, Bob's oldest son, who lives in St George. He had received a phone call from his dad requesting him to hurry and come to the hospital where Bob was, in Ogden Utah. When Robert found his dad in the hospital in Ogden. He was receiving chemo and other drugs because they had found he had cancer. The doctor informed him that Bob would only live two to three more days. He also notice that Bobs breathing was very shallow.
Robert stated that he ordered the chemo to be stoped along with all the other medications so that his dad could pass in peace. He was also having him moved to a nursing home, Oak Crest Nursing home, close by.
The next day Robert called me, on the 24th, to inform me that Bob had died.
Robert was upset because of Bob's current family, (3rd wife). about 20 people were in the room, arguing with each other. His body was taken to Leavitt's Mortuary in Ogden, where Bob had requested to be cremated. I had hoped to see Bob as it has been many years since I had seen him.
I asked, when I had entered the Mortuary, but was informed that there was no viewing at the request of the family. Later I found out Bob had been cremated before the services, at the family request.
For some strange reasons second families often feel that the children of the first family are not important, and have no place with them. Not realizing that their hearts are broken too. As has been the case with Ivan's children and Bob's from the first marriage. (Bob's wife Helen had died from a blood transfusion given to her from surgery, giving her Hepatitis C.)
Bob's children are out of state or on the border of the state line. His second family took no consideration to allow time for the kids to come for the funeral. They also dominated the funeral service, it was different, but not bad.
Jill, Bob's granddaughter, Tammy's only child, wrote the Obituary for the funeral home. I thought she did a great job, and tried to state facts and be fair to both families. Jill also has my mothers genealogy book that mom had kept. I think Jill's husband gave the opening prayer.
For the last few years the two families have been fighting where Bob was going to be buried when he died. Bob has a grave site in Provo City Cementery where his first wife is. Even has a tombstone with his name on it. But the second wife has said no, that he would be buried with her. She has been married before and all the family are hers. Bob had no children with Margaret. But their is a rumor around that she is seald to him in the temple. Helen, Bob's first wife, and Bob were married in the SLC Temple.
So his kids have been upset as to where they were going to find their dad, when they wanted to be close to him.
Leavitt's Mortuary was very beautiful, and the grounds were beautiful and peaceful.
I was hoping to be a hour early to visit with family, but was surprised to see we made good time and was two hours early. As we waited inside where it was cooler, I was also surprised to learn that Bob's funeral was the sixth one for the day.
Robert Craig came in and was talking with someone from the Mortuary. They brought a velvet bag to him. In the bag was a beautiful urn with some of Bob's ashes. After I took a picture he quickly took the urn out and hid it in his car.
The kids are wanting to have a simple marmoreal at their mothers grave, and perhaps bury the urn there with her. I also found out that their youngest brother Gary, has cancer. Robert told him, he would save the grave next to his mother for him.
Margaret and her family are planing to spread some of the ashes at a favorite camping spot, and the rest will sit on a shelf for about a year, until they decided what they want to do with the rest.
I was touched that four of the six boys, my brother Ivan has, came to Bob's funeral. Clyde, Robin, Richard, Randy and Randy's wife. My brother Verl came, and his daughter Pennie, drove him there.
Robert Craig, and Jill and her husband were the only ones who made it from Bob's family.
My daughter Paulette came with me, so I wouldn't be alone for the long trip.
I was glad she came, she was able to meet her cousins she had not met before both Ivan and Bob's funeral. Paulette made the comment that she felt more part of family, from these two funerals, than all of the Walker side of the family we have known, in all the years.
Verl and I are the only ones left of our family. Verl is eleven years older than myself.
He is worried, keeps saying he is next.
Ivan died March 16 2017 from Cancer, in SLC, buried in SLC
Bob died July 24 2017 from Cancer, in Ogden Utah
Update:
Robert Craig was able to bury the ashes he had, with his mother, at the Provo City Cemetery, in Provo Utah. I don't know what the other family will do with their part of the ashes...we may never know.

Angel Fish...
July 17 2017
During this last week my two large Angel Fish, in my 36 gal fish tank, laid eggs. They were very good parents taking care of them.
The large red tail shark in the tank all of a sudden found out he had a reason for the Angles to chase him, he usually ignores the Angels, they are too slow and don't pay attention to him. He loves a good chase. He is always chasing other fish, or going slow enough for the black molly to chase him.
Because of his threatening to the eggs, and the constant worry, the parents ate their eggs, which Angels will do.
As much as I didn't want to spend more money, that I don't have, I felt I needed to get a tank for the Angels by themselves. For It is not common to have a mated pair of Angle fish.

A Mother's busy day...
July 16 2017 Sunday
What a super busy day for Pauli....
Being Sunday I decided to go to church with Pauli and James in Tooele, at their new ward.
Today Pauli and James, had been assigned to give a talk from our recent General Conference.
As part of Pauli's talk she also included playing Abide with Me; Tis Eventide, on her harp, it was so beautiful.
After Sacrament meeting we went to the Bishop office where James was set apart to be the Executive Secretary to the Bishop.
Pauli took her harp home to protect it. Came back to church as it is her week to teach in Relief Society. The lesson was on the Priesthood. Pauli also played the opening and closing songs in Relief Society.
I was so touched by all the testimonies of how the sisters experienced the power of the Priesthood in their lives.....at all different times of life. And to remember that Father in Heaven has blessed us to be able to use his power to help us here as we need him.
Also was the tearful reminder that not all families have a Priesthood holder in their home, and how they long for it, and feel empty without it.
I think we don't realize how really blessed we are....
...........................................................................
Launie also has a new calling today as Family History Specialist in her ward, in Prescott Arizona.
It is raining real hard where she lives right now, her yard is flooded and its coming into her house...the pictures she sent to me looked terrible...
Her house sits low and the water runs off the road and onto her land.....not good...
