A Dusting of the Cobwebs....

welcome to my blog!
...allow me a brief introduction...

In a reacent conversation with my daughter, her questions were why I, and her Dad were so quiet about our lifes? Meaning writing or telling about our own personal historys.

I didn't think there was anything important to write about. As I was just a normal person, getting up in the morning and getting the day started, getting kids off to school, or meeting schedules of the whole family, cleaning house, and landry. Keeping little ones busy, and changing diapers, comming home fixing dinner, helping with homework, putting kids to bed, watch some news, go to bed. And then do it all over again the next day. Then some days was teaching lessons in Primary, RS, MIA, Sundayschool, cub scouts, or helping at schools, ect. Family home evening, Visiting teaching, and even some Home teaching and being the family schaefer. most of the time we had one car, 6 kids, one working husband. Oh yes, the multi years of music lessons, and baseball teams, coaching, and even one major jumproap champion, for one daughter.

We had trials too. some were very hard, just thinking about a single memory of losing our son, brings tears. But we are told that this life is to meet trials, and how we handle them will be for our own eternal growth.

A very wise Stake President, President Alred, once said "We are here to be schooled in the principles of eternity. We will work by the sweat of our brow, to work our way through this life... But remember we are here to be schooled in the principles of eternity."

So, I welcome you to my blog. Please feel free to stay and go as you please, and wander where you wish. And, as always, feel comfortable in sharing those stories that you may feel are just "an every day" thing as well...

Pinching cheeks...

I often find it interesting to just listen to the younger generation, about how women's makeup should be applied today. Take the art of Blush for example. I remember my mother talking with her sisters about when they were young, how it was the custom to pinch their cheeks to make them turn pink. (You can still see this in some of the old movies.) Pink cheeks made one look healthy, and happy. I guess someone figured out that the use of lipstick worked great, and was easier on the tender skin than pinching. So a dab or two of lipstick, then smearing it into the skin worked very well. It worked so well, that the next thing you saw was called "Rouge". Lipstick poured into a little dish, compact, or pot. (still wet and waxy) Applied by dipping your finger into the Rouge, and applying it to the cheek. Next came "Blush", A powdered form of Rouge. A great idea, but I had to get use to the name, It was first applied with a makeup powder puff, and now with a makeup brush. Very easy to apply, and beautiful to look at.

Where to put Blush has been interesting as well. Of course as years turn, each group has to do something different in application, and it has to be the "Now Thing". Sometimes I think women get confused.
I have seen Blush applied to the upper part of the cheek, under the eye, and maybe a little to the side of the eye. Causing one to focus on the warmth of the eyes.
Next has been Blush applied to sides of cheeks, and middle of face, forehead, end of nose and chin. I don't know why, it was told me to keep a healthy look...hum..
The one I can't figure out is the Blush streak almost from corner of mouth, straight line passed the corner of the eye. Still little popular, but to me it doesn't bring out the best looks in a woman, it just causes people to stare, and not see who is wearing it.
There is also those who wear Blush on the bottom of the cheek. It looks OK, but sometimes gives a wearing of sunglass suntan look.

Blush is a wonderful thing. As the years past, I am finding the color is fading from my face, and a few more, what they call happy lines?? running across my forehead, and elts where. Its nice to be able to add a little color, and to feel better about myself.

I've read books where they pinch their cheeks -- sound painful. :)

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

I can never figure out how to keep up with the make-up trends. I suppose someday people will be able to tell how old I am just by how I wear blush.

Thats funny but could be true. I think one does not need to worry about trends they change all the time. Just like hair styles, or dresses, or shoes. Its what you see in yourself that makes who you really are. We just need to be the best we can, with what we have.

ewww... lipstick on the cheeks. Don't know if i'd ever go for that idea. The powder idea is way better. THANKYOU to whomever created the difference!

I'm giggling about your comment on 'having to get used to it being called BLUSH"...teehee! I've never known it as any other word growing up. When I'd hear reference to 'Rouge'...I thought that was funny and a funny sounding word.

Thanks for the little laugh... FRAN
