A Dusting of the Cobwebs....

welcome to my blog!
...allow me a brief introduction...

In a reacent conversation with my daughter, her questions were why I, and her Dad were so quiet about our lifes? Meaning writing or telling about our own personal historys.

I didn't think there was anything important to write about. As I was just a normal person, getting up in the morning and getting the day started, getting kids off to school, or meeting schedules of the whole family, cleaning house, and landry. Keeping little ones busy, and changing diapers, comming home fixing dinner, helping with homework, putting kids to bed, watch some news, go to bed. And then do it all over again the next day. Then some days was teaching lessons in Primary, RS, MIA, Sundayschool, cub scouts, or helping at schools, ect. Family home evening, Visiting teaching, and even some Home teaching and being the family schaefer. most of the time we had one car, 6 kids, one working husband. Oh yes, the multi years of music lessons, and baseball teams, coaching, and even one major jumproap champion, for one daughter.

We had trials too. some were very hard, just thinking about a single memory of losing our son, brings tears. But we are told that this life is to meet trials, and how we handle them will be for our own eternal growth.

A very wise Stake President, President Alred, once said "We are here to be schooled in the principles of eternity. We will work by the sweat of our brow, to work our way through this life... But remember we are here to be schooled in the principles of eternity."

So, I welcome you to my blog. Please feel free to stay and go as you please, and wander where you wish. And, as always, feel comfortable in sharing those stories that you may feel are just "an every day" thing as well...

My Fall....

Sept 9 2018

I was on my way to the Temple, feeling good because I was going earlier.  I had found a parking space right away, and looking forward to my time serving in the Temple.
As I was walking across the stone walkway across the Conference Center,  My shoe caught one of the edges of one of the brick like stones, and I found myself heading toward the cement  My glasses went flying as my forehead, nose and chin hit the cement.  I thought for sure that I had broken my nose, and bit my lip.  I rolled on to my back, there was nothing I could do but lay there.  My head was hurting, my nose and mouth, also my knees and hands.

I heard someone ask if I was alright, I moved my head to indicate that I was not.  I heard her call for Security...  One of the Sisters I work with was soon at my side, holding my hand.  I also had in my hand my Temple recommend, which she took and put into my purse, so I would not loose it.... I asked her to tell Sis Rose, my supervisor, that I may not make it today.  I heard someone say that I was a Temple worker.
I was soon surrounded by Church Security, Temple Security, Paramedics, Fireman, and others.
I was checked over to make sure I would be ok,  Someone started asking me questions, How old was I...74, What is your name... Carolyn Walker, Do you know where you live... Grantsville, Do you have some identification?... They wanted to take me to a hospital, but I told them I could not afford it.  The Temple Security had brought a wheel chair for me to ride in, and they took me to the Temple. I was embarrassed, but grateful for all the kindness.  As I was helped to my feet, I saw a Paramedic van, and a Bright Cherry Red, brand new, huge ladder firetruck sitting on the corner!.....You could not have had a bigger flag than that!

I soon found Sister Rose, who told me that she had assigned my work schedule out, and I would be studding for a while.  After two hours of keeping a eye on me, she asked if I would be able to drive home. which I did.  Sister Rose gave me the phone number of the  Secretary to the Temple President, and told her I would be calling her.....and told me she wanted me to call her as soon as I got home.

My nose was swollen, my lip was too and bleeding inside my skin.  My chin ended up being black and blue with the blood bleeding inside.  My lip was swollen.  My forehead hurt.
I hurt all over, my wrist and knee were brused too....To my surprise, my glasses were not broken, not even a scratch on them...

Launie happened to come from Idaho, and stayed with me a few days, which was a great blessing.
After the shocked look on Brother Grua's face, I asked if he would give me a priesthood blessing.  Which he did, In the blessing he blessed me that my body would heal quickly.  He also said that Lynn was present....  Launie also said she had felt his presence to.

After seeing my Chiropractor, and my Doctor, I was told that I had a concussion,  and pneumonia on both sides... I see the Dr. in two weeks two see where I am at...

Week Three....

Sept 13, 2018

In the Temple this week, I had a full schedule.  Among them was my first time at the vale.
It was a small group, about 5 rows of sisters.  I knew everything perfectly at home, but walking in front of the vale I got scared.  I was hoping to be placed at the end of the line, but instead was placed about the third, which didn't help... I couldn't hide.

I made it through with the help of Sister Rose, my instructor....how ever I kept forgetting the last three words. I hope she couldn't see how I was shacking all over from head to toe.  I felt she could have scoped me up with a butter knife off the floor, and I told her so...

It is so different doing this as a worker... than going threw for yourself or a patron.
I realize how important this work is, and how many folks are waiting, and are stuck until their work can be finished.  I hope I learn fast, it makes you feel so good all week when you spend time in the Temple, and you make more friends who feel as you do...

Serving in Salt Lake Temple...

Sept 7 1820

I was surprised yesterday as I finished my shift at the Temple.  For about six hours of being on my feet and walking, and sitting, studying I was not in any pain.  Even my shoes did not erratae my feet.  But as soon as my shift was over the pain started in.  My back was in full pain by the time I drove home, my knees did not want to hold me up, and was painful to walk.  I felt totally exhasted, and I looked it in my face. One person told me I looked real tired.  Yet I came home with such a very special feeling, a inward happiness, and calmness.

I will start at the vale next week, I hope I will do well.  Our instructor, Nancy Rose, is awsome, she was also a school teacher, and a great sense of humor.  I found out that she likes to sew, and has made many fancy dresses, like wedding and formals dresses.
from what she has said, I believe she spends several days in the Temple. Both she and her husband serve in the Temple.

Receiving a Temple calling....

25 Aug 2018

Sister Bingham called, I am to meet with Brother and Sister Rosemary Wixom in the Salt Lake Temple, on August 23rd at 4:30pm.  I was to enter the Temple on the east side and go straight back to the desk.  My friend Jeanene Hamatake was there working where the family names are given.  She helped me find where I was to go.  It was great to see her there.

President Wixcom, the Salt Lake Temple President, laid his hands upon my head and called me to be a Ordance worker in the Salt Lake Temple.  My daughter Paulette was present..
Both  Bro and Sister Wixom said that Bishop Chesdister, and Stake President Killian said great things about me....

I will work on Thursdays at 10am to about 4pm in the Salt Lake Temple.
This is something I have always wanted to do...

Thursday  Aug 30 2018

Today was my first day in training in the Temple.  One of the videos they showed was a couple who came to the Temple in their street clothing.  They had just came from the doctors office where they  found out that their unborn baby girl had died.  They needed the comfort of being in the Temple at this special time of their life.

Watching this film and seeing how they were struggling, brought back full feelings of when I lost my son Eugene.  I was so overcome, I struggled with my own feelings inside....I could not eat, I could not think clear, I was shaking and was having a hard time breathing.  My heart was beating oddly, I only wanted to find a place where I could hide my face and cry my eyes out, hoping to find peace....

Sitting in the study room trying to memorize, I turned my face to the wall and cried out to Heavenly Father for help ..... A soft voice of thought responded....He is ok,...you saw him...he is ok ...he is ok... you saw him....he is ok...he is ok... he is ok.... he is ok....
Slowly my breathing started to return to normal...My heart and emotions calmed down.  Soon I was able to function again...I don't know what I would have done if  He hadn't helped me.....
I am so Thankful we can receive Heavenly Fathers help when we need him,  and know that He is aware of each of us...

Stake President Killian...

July 20 2018

I had an appointment with Stake President Jason Killian last night.  I have known him for many years, he carries a special spirit about him that I have often admired.  When we first moved into our home Bro Killian was a counselor to my Bishop Steve Collings.  He also helped Lynn put in our sprinkler system around our home.

As I sat in his presents I became aware of how strong his calling is,  you could just feel the presents of something special.  I have often looked up into his friendly eyes as I have talked with him may times.  But this time I felt he could see right through me.  I was surprised...  and wondered when the time comes when we meet our Lord and Savior, if I will be prepared, when he sees right through me...

A Wonderful Blessing...

May 26, 2018

Upon returning home from the store, I was surprised to find two blue pickup trucks on my driveway....I found Bro. Doug Holyoak, and Bro. Joshua Schultz working on my back porch.

It was badly weather worn, and was missing a side rail, which had never been added.  I always wondered if I could fall off the porch as my balance is not the best.  The missing side rail is on the side where the sliding door opens.

They dissembled the porch side, sanded all the wood smooth, painted all the wood, and put it all together again, including railing on both sides of the porch.  It was Wonderful...looked so new and easy to walk on.  I was very grateful to have it...I felt so bad that they were working in the hot sun for over five hours for me.  Bishop Chidester stopped by a little while and helped sand and paint.

Its so nice to be able to walk out onto the porch, and have a handrail all the way down to the cement.  I don't know why I am so blessed to be living in a ward where people watch out for me.

Gift of Special Blessings...

May 14, 2018
Yesterday was Mother's Day...

Sometimes we receive sacred blessings that cause us to be in awed, how the Lord is welling to bless us when we are in need, and its unexpected.    I was reminded of a lesson I have learned, why people who receive such blessings are not willing to talk about it..... its is because when we talk about it, it doesn't feel special anymore, seems to fade away in our memories, instead of keeping the feeling of humble gratitude.

I know the Lord is very much aware of Mothers,  I have had the experience in my own life, which comfermed the truthfullness of life continuing after this one.

With the unending work that Mothers have, working with his children, when there is a great need, the Lord often open ways to bless us, its sometimes, at times when we feel there are no other way....

love your kids
